PS4 Unity Game Developer
We are currently looking for a PS4 Unity Game Developer to join our development team on a contract basis, to work on our current and future games.

About us:

London-based Bossa Studios is an independent games developer and publisher founded in 2010. We’re the creators of the BAFTA hit Surgeon Simulator, BAFTA winning Monstermind, the highly-acclaimed I am Bread, plus other wonderful games. Shortly to be launching the incredibly ambitious massively multiplayer sandbox game, Worlds Adrift, Bossa has brought a new take on how independent games are played and discovered. With their titles being loved by millions of gamers worldwide, Bossa aims to create games for fun’s sake. Role summary:

We are currently looking for a PS4 Unity Game Developer to join our development team on a contract basis, to work on our current and future games. You will contribute to the development of the game code with special emphasis on PS4 multiplayer gameplay.

 

The environment is fun, rewarding and challenging. We believe in all hands to the pumps as the situation requires, a high degree of flexibility in your attitude to work is essential.

Responsibilities:
– Implementation of game code to a high degree of robustness and maintainability
– Working closely with the other game developers to ensure all code is of the same high standards
– Research and dissemination among the team of best Network practices
– Delivering agreed work on time and to the quality level required
– Delivering PS4 version of the Game

Requirements:
– Excellent coding skills
– Experience with development of PS4 development with Unity
– 2-3 years Game industry experience with track record of successfully released games
– Portfolio of work that includes PS4 games
– A degree in Computer Science or similar
– Ability to adapt to new coding techniques and learn new languages
– Excellent attention to detail and a high level of polish

Programming skills:
Our main development Language is now C# but we use a varied mix of technologies. What we’re looking for is an adaptable and experienced programmer who has a good mix of the following:
– Proven experience in a variety of languages such any combination of C#, C++, Java, Objective C, etc.
– Proven experience with PS4 Unity Multiplayer implementations
– Working knowledge of any out of GIT, Mercurial and Perforce
– Experience of Agile development environments (SCRUM, etc.)
– Professional experience of Unity development.

The role:

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Social Media intern will be an energetic individual with a mission to engage with our awesome Worlds Adrift audience every day.

Working alongside the Marketing and Development teams, you will assist with content creation and publishing across all social channels, websites, blogs and ensure that the Worlds Adrift campaign is supported at all times.

Daily duties include monitoring the wonderful Worlds Adrift community to recognise, engage, celebrate and share fan’s content and conversations, across all of the Worlds Adrift social channels (Forum, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Steam, YouTube and Twitch).

We see this as unique opportunity for a higher education student to get practical experience working in the gaming industry for a leading independent studio.

Your skills:

  • Active and engaged player of the latest MMOs. Comfortable engaging with that audience.
  • Proven experience with growing a company’s or your own social media following base.
  • Photoshop wizard: ability to create images for Bossa’s social media channels, plus promotional materials such as flyers, badges.
  • Ability to find and bond with with our fans on fan sites, forums and Reddit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for games, for the kind of games Bossa do and the type of audience who love our games.
  • Self-motivated, goals-driven and well organised.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, follow, improve and complete test plans and other documentation in a thorough and consistent manner, and scoping tasks relative to business priorities
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal testing processes where appropriate
  • Testing game content and features to make sure they are stable and to high quality
  • Managing bug tracking from discovery to resolution, highlighting key issues to development team
  • Testing game mechanics and providing clear, concise feedback to line manager, producers and/or development team
  • Engage with development team in a tactful and diplomatic manner in order to proactively find issues early in development process
  • Actively participate in daily stand-up meetings to relay QA progress

Required skills:

  • Previous experience in testing games, either as a beta tester or professionally
  • Attention to detail with an inquisitive mindset, not afraid to ask difficult questions where required
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
  • Tactful approach in dealing with potentially emotive decisions
  • Excellent general interpersonal skills
  • Aptitude for gaining understanding in new technologies and processes quickly
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks based on multiple sources of information

Desired skills:

  • Previous experience within an embedded QA team at a games development studio, with at least one title shipped (ideally through an entire development lifecycle)
  • Prior experience in creating and updating test scripts/plans and other test documentation
  • Prior experience working on VR projects (PlayStationVR, Oculus Rift, Vive or others) a definite plus.
  • Prior experience of testing mass multiplayer online games, competitive multiplayer games across a wide variety of formats
